Tradisi Injil lisan, budaya pengabaran yang disampai dari satu generasi sampai generasi berikutnya dari mulut ke mulut, merupakan tahap awal pembentukan injil-injil tertulis. Tradisi lisan tersebut meliputi jenis-jenis cerita yang berbeda tentang Yesus. Contohnya, terdapat anekdot-anekdot tentang Yesus menyembuhkan orang sakit dan berdebat dengan lawan-lawannya. Tradisi tersebut juga meliputi perkataan yang diatributkan kepada Yesus, seperti perumpamaan-perumpamaan dan pengajaran-pengajaran tentang berbagai subjek yang bersama dengan perkataan lainnya, membentuk tradisi Injil lisan. ^{[1] [2]}
