KeePassXC menggunakan format basis datakata sandi KeePass 2.x (.kdbx) sebagai format natifnya.[5] Ia juga bisa mengimpor (dan mengubah) basis data KeePass versi 2 dan versi 1 (.kdb). KeePassXC mempunyai dukungan atas berkas kunci (key file) dan YubiKey untuk keamanan tambahan.[2]
