Mineral ini umumnya ditemukan dalam sistem kristal monoklinik dan termasuk dalam grup mineral alluaudit, yang mencakup senyawa fosfat dan arsenat dengan struktur kristal yang serupa.[18][19] Alluaudit terbentuk sebagai mineral aksesori dalam pegmatit granit fosfat, seringkali sebagai produk alterasi dari triplit atau litiofilit.[20][21] Secara fisik, mineral ini berwarna kuning kecoklatan hingga hijau zaitun atau hitam kehijauan, dengan kilau seperti resin hingga lemak, serta memiliki kekerasan antara 5 hingga 5.5 dalam skala Mohs.[22]
