SALEM, Ore. — The Salem DoorDash driver accused of stabbing his co-worker and attempting to sexually assault her was arrested in California Thursday night, Salem Police told KGW.

The woman said the attack happened Tuesday night while she and Daniel Ray Myers, 62, were making DoorDash deliveries together in west Salem. Myers reportedly drove to a secluded location where he made unwanted advances on her and then tried to sexually assault her before stabbing her multiple times, police said.
Police said Myers trapped the woman in his vehicle until she was able to convince him to let her go get first aid supplies at a Walgreens in Keizer. Store staff called the police around 9 p.m., and EMTs rushed her to the hospital upon their arrival.
Myers fled from the area in his vehicle before police arrived, triggering a manhunt that lasted around two days. Detectives received three separate calls from law enforcement agencies in Oregon and California that indicated Myers’ vehicle had reportedly been seen, Salem police said. Detectives learned from the tips that Meyers was in California, traveling south toward Bakersfield.
He was arrested in Bakersfield, California, around 8 p.m. Thursday night.
Myers was booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility without bail. He faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree assault, according to Salem Police.
