The War of the Worlds adalah novelfiksi ilmiah militer karya H. G. Wells. Diterbitkan secara bersamaan di Pearson's Magazine di Inggris dan majalah Cosmopolitan di AS pada tahun 1897. Dalam bentuk buku diterbitkan pertama kali oleh William Heinemann di kota London pada tahun 1898. Novel ini bercerita tentang serangan ke Bumi oleh orang dari Mars menggunakan mesin Tripod, dengan senjata yang paling modern. Novel ini ditulis antara tahun 1895 dan 1897 [1] adalah awal salah satu cerita paling detail konflik antara manusia dan perlombaan luar angkasa. Novel ini banyak bercerita tentang norma fiksi ilmiah.[2]
