Pertempuran Azincourt (1415)

Pertempuran Azincourt (/ˈæʒɪnkɔːr(t), -kʊər/;^[a] bahasa Prancis: Azincourtcode: fr is deprecated [azɛ̃kuʁ]) merupakan sebuah konflik yang dimenangkan oleh Inggris dalam Perang Seratus Tahun. Pertempuran ini berlangsung pada 25 Oktober 1415 (Hari Santo Krispin) di dekat Azincourt, sebelah utara Prancis.^[b] Kemenangan Inggris yang tak terduga melawan prajurit Prancis yang jumlahnya lebih banyak meningkatkan moral dan martabat Inggris, melumpuhkan Prancis dan memulai periode baru dominasi Inggris dalam perang.

↑ Pronunciation: The story of the battle has been retold many times in English, from the fifteenth-century Agincourt song onwards and an English pronunciation of /ˈædʒɪnkɔːrt/ has become established. Merriam-Webster has a small audio file here.^[1] The modern tendency is to use a style closer to French, such as /ˈædʒɪnkɔːr/ or /ˈæʒɪnkʊər/^[2]^[3] as in this interview with Juliet Barker on Meet the Author, here.^[4]
