Hipotesis tiga sumber adalah sebuah solusi untuk masalah sinoptik. Hipotesis tersebut memadukan aspek hipotesis dua sumber dan hipotesis Farrer. Hipotesis tersebut menyatakan bahwa Injil Matius dan Injil Lukas memakai Injil Markus dan kumpulan firman sebagai sumber utama, tetapi Injil Lukas juga memakai Injil Matius sebagai sumber tambahan.

Teori tersebut didukung oleh Heinrich Julius Holtzmann,^[1] Eduard Simons,^[2] Hans Hinrich Wendt,^[3] Edward Y. Hincks,^[4] Robert Morgenthaler^[5] dan Robert H. Gundry.^[6]
