Dean Baker berdalil bahwa terdapat sistem perekonomian yang dapat dikenali dalam fasisme, yang memuat karakteristik pokok yang diamalkan oleh bangsa-bangsa fasis, yang berbeda dengan sistem perekonomian lainnya yang dianjurkan oleh ideologi lain.[1] Payne, Paxton, Sternhell, dan kawan-kawan setuju bahwa ekonomi-ekonomi fasis berbagi beberapa keserupaan, tidak terdapat bentuk pembeda dari organisasi ekonomi fasis.[2] Feldman dan Mason berpendapat bahwa fasisme dapat dibedakan oleh tidak-hadirnya ideologi ekonomi yang bertalian secara logis dan tidak-hadirnya pemikir ekonomi yang serius.
